We are looking for a handful of talented broadly-skilled builders to help us prototype an exciting new initiative.
Role & responsibilities:
- Devising new approaches to technical problems.
- Design and analyze mechanical systems, such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, while considering their impact on structures.
- Perform structural analysis and design of structures, ensuring they can accommodate mechanical systems.
- Understanding roles played by other disciplines on the project and possessing the ability to coordinate and interface with other engineering disciplines.
- Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates, incorporating insights gained from hands-on experience.
Key qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Solid knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to mechanical, civil, and industrial design.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to find practical solutions and adapt engineering concepts to real-world scenarios.
- Knowledge of common building materials and practices.
Preferred qualifications:
- Mechanical simulation and calculation experience (ie FEA)
- Willingness to work on-site and perform hands-on tasks as required.
- Rapid prototyping experience.
- Prior experience in modular construction.
- PE licence a plus but not required.
Salary/Pay Range:
For individuals hired to work in California, Science is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on geo-located salary bands. The base salary range for this full-time position is $110,000-$170,000 + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers.
