We are seeking a strongly motivated Cell Culture Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the operation of our Stem Cell Foundry, which produces high quality induced pluripotent stem cell lines. This job will entail ensuring operational excellence of stem cell culture including but not limited to: clonal selection and expansion, cell bank generation, and differentiation. In addition, the candidate will perform quality control assays to characterize stem cell lines including testing for endotoxins, mycoplasma, sterility, and more. Science relies heavily on automation, and this role will involve leveraging that laboratory automation to achieve results beyond what you thought possible.. This job is perfect for experienced cell culturists and molecular biologists with strong attention to detail and organizational skills looking to make an impact at an early stage of our company’s development.

Role responsibilities:

  • Perform all aspects of iPSC culture and cell line generation in a GMP-like environment
  • Execute cell editing protocols and maintain edited cell lines under controlled conditions
  • Perform quality control assays to characterize stem cell lines and validate editing outcomes
  • Use existing lab automation and test new lab automation systems
  • Manage reagents and inventory with strict chain of custody documentation
  • Maintain workspace cleanliness and organization to GMP-like standards
  • Follow standard operating procedures and clearly communicate with the team
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready records of procedures and results
  • Work flexible schedules including weekends as needed to support product development timelines
  • Adhere to controlled environment SOPsand security requirements

Key qualifications:

  • Strong expertise with mammalian cell culture and sterile technique in controlled environments
  • Experience with plate reader assays and analytical method validation
  • 2+ years of experience working with stem cells, molecular biology, and cell editing technologies
  • Familiarity with GMP or GMP-like quality systems and documentation requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence in a regulated environment
  • Ability to work weekends and flexible schedules

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proficiency using computers and familiarity with Python for data analysis
  • Experience with laboratory automation and controlled manufacturing environments
  • Hands-on experience with CRISPR, base editing, or other cell editing platforms
  • Previous work in product development or clinical manufacturing settings
  • Understanding of quality control testing for cellular products

Salary/Pay Range:

For individuals hired to work in California, Science is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role.  We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on geo-located salary bands. The base salary range for this full-time position is $25-$35 per hour + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers.
