The Clinical Research Field Engineer  is a specialized technical and clinical hybrid role focused on the successful integration of our medical technology into the clinical environment.  The position is "hands-on" with the technology, the rehabilitation and the surgical team.

In this role, you will be the technical subject matter expert responsible for managing surgical training coordination, overseeing the preparation of the device within the sterile field, and leading rehabilitation or follow-up programs for study participants. You are the critical link between the engineering lab and the operating room, ensuring that the device is used correctly and that participants achieve optimal outcomes post-procedure.

Role responsibilities:

  • Maintain technical and administrative responsibility for all device-related matters
  • Coordinate with clinical site staff to ensure smooth execution of trial activities including deviations and adverse events
  • Interfaces and collaborate with Investigators and Clinical Operators
  • Liaison between R&D, physicians and healthcare professional
  • Participate in the preparation of clinical standard operating procedures, test protocols and reports in the company

Key qualifications:

  • A relevant scientific degree (minimum Bachelor (with honours preferred), preferred: Master or PhD in Engineering or the  Medical Sciences)
  • Excellent technical understanding 
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal)  and interpersonal skills 

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Master or PhD in the Medical Sciences
  • Previous experience in ophthalmology, optometry or low-vision rehabilitation
  • Previous experience working with clinical trials and/or in the medical device industry 
  • Previous research experience in medical devices and/or ophthalmology

Hierarchical responsibility/project(s) for animation: reports to the Clinical Affairs Director

Internal/external working relationships: Medical doctors, rehabilitation experts, study coordinators, monitors
