Director of Marketing
Paris, France
Science is a clinical stage, vertically integrated technology company focused on solving some of neuroscience’s hardest questions and most serious unmet medical needs. We work to restore quality of life to those with debilitating conditions for which there are no treatment options, creating devices aimed at restoring vision, cognition, and mobility to patients who have lost it. To support progress across our industry, we provide state-of-the-art components and vertically integrated infrastructure for others to build on via Science Foundry.
We are seeking a Director, EU Marketing to own go-to-market strategy for our PRIMA retinal implant – the only treatment that has demonstrated the ability to restore vision to patients blinded by the effects of dry AMD. PRIMA is backed by landmark clinical trials, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, and is currently under review for CE Mark.
This person will lead the European marketing function, equally comfortable setting strategy and hands-on execution. This person will need to build while navigating the complexity that comes with launching a first-of-its-kind device in a new market. What's needed is someone with the strategic ownership and commercial instincts to bring PRIMA to market with the strength and confidence it deserves, motivated by the chance to help give people their sight back.
Role responsibilities:
- Develop, socialize, and own the European marketing strategy and budget for PRIMA across both physician and patient work streams
- Serve as the primary European marketing lead internally, aligning cross functionally with medical affairs, clinical, regulatory, legal, market access, commercial and communications teams
- Generate and synthesize insights from market research, advisory boards, KOL input, and field intelligence to inform strategy and optimize program performance
- Build and manage a prioritized KOL network across key European markets; develop compliant HCP engagement programs including advisory boards, speaker engagements, and congress activities
- Own end-to-end European conference strategy — managing program design, audience prioritization, KOL engagement, budget, and execution across 15+ annual events including EURETINA, DOG, ARVO, and GIVRE
- Develop patient-facing programs, content, and ambassador relationships that drive therapy awareness
- Identify compelling patient stories emerging from our implant centers and connect them to the broader marketing communications team for amplification across channels
- Define, own, and socialize European marketing KPIs that tell a clear story of quarter-over-quarter growth, supporting the patient funnel at our centers of excellence and implant centers across Europe
Key qualifications:
- 10+ years of medical device or life sciences marketing experience with European market exposure; deep understanding of medical device regulatory environments across European markets, with the instinct to partner with legal and regulatory counsel when navigating country-specific requirements
- Proven experience owning medical conference strategy and management, including established relationships with key conference organizers
- Track record of developing and executing go-to-market strategies and owning marketing budgets
- Experience building both HCP and patient-facing marketing programs
- English speaking and at least one additional European language
- Based in Western Europe
Preferred qualifications:
- Background in ophthalmology, neurology, or implantable device categories
- Experience building and developing new medical device or MedTech markets, or equivalent experience in a market development capacity
- Existing network within the European ophthalmology or retina community
- Given a heavy Year 1 focus on the German market and significant in-person conference presence, strategic proximity to Germany and/or German language proficiency a plus
