We are seeking an experienced Facility Engineer to support the operation, maintenance, and optimization of our new state-of-the-art MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) cleanroom facility. The ideal candidate will ensure continuous operation of all critical cleanroom systems while maintaining ISO cleanroom standards and supporting our manufacturing/research operations.

Role responsibilities:

  • Cleanroom Operations: Monitor and maintain HVAC, air filtration (HEPA/ULPA), and environmental control systems to consistently meet ISO Class 5 classification standards for temperature, humidity, pressure, and particle levels.
  • Critical Utilities Management: Maintain and troubleshoot process cooling water, chilled water, compressed dry air, nitrogen, vacuum, DI water, electrical/UPS, and chemical distribution/waste neutralization systems.
  • Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Develop and execute PM programs, respond to emergency failures and alarms, manage spare parts inventory, and maintain accurate equipment records and documentation.
  • Vendor & Contractor Coordination: Partner with external specialists for repairs and projects, ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to facility standards.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, and local regulations; oversee chemical safety and hazardous waste protocols; conduct safety inspections and maintain documentation for regulatory audits.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify efficiency and reliability improvements, implement predictive maintenance strategies, optimize energy consumption, and support facility expansion and upgrade projects.
  • Training & Knowledge Transfer: Educate and train operations staff on facility systems, procedures, and safety protocols to build team capability and operational resilience

Key qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Facilities Engineering (or Associate's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience)
  • 3–5 years of experience in cleanroom facility operations or semiconductor manufacturing, with hands-on knowledge of HVAC, process utilities, and building management systems (BMS)
  • Strong understanding of cleanroom design, ISO 14644 standards, and contamination control protocols
  • Proficiency reading mechanical/electrical drawings and P&IDs; working knowledge of process gas, chemical handling, DI water, and electrical systems
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment (gowning required), lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights/confined spaces, and availability for on-call/after-hours response

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), HVAC certification, or cleanroom-specific training/certification
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent communication and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Detail-oriented with solid documentation habits and a collaborative, team-first mindset
  • Eagerness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and evolving facility demands
