Science is a clinical stage, vertically integrated technology company focused on solving some of neuroscience's hardest questions and most serious unmet medical needs. We work to restore quality of life to those with debilitating conditions for which there are no treatment options, creating devices aimed at restoring vision, cognition, and mobility to patients who have lost it. To support progress across our industry, we provide state-of-the-art components and vertically integrated infrastructure for others to build on via Science Foundry.
Join our team of scientists and engineers as we develop next-generation cell and gene therapies for brain-computer interfaces and optogenetic vision restoration. You'll contribute directly to pioneering research with the potential to restore sight to the blind and create revolutionary neural interfaces. This is a perfect opportunity for a scientist to apply their expertise in neuronal differentiation in a fast-paced research environment focused on therapeutic applications.
Role responsibilities:
- Execute highly reproducible iPSC differentiation protocols to generate defined neuronal subtypes, with particular expertise in cortical neurons, inhibitory interneurons, and dopaminergic neurons
- Develop, optimize, and rigorously adhere to detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all neuronal differentiation workflows
- Perform single-cell RNA sequencing (sc-RNAseq) sample preparation, library construction, and quality control analysis
- Execute advanced FACS sorting and analysis for neuronal population characterization and purification
- Conduct comprehensive immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunocytochemistry protocols for neuronal marker validation
- Implement rigorous quality control assays throughout differentiation timelines, including cell viability, purity, and functional assessments
- Maintain detailed documentation and data integrity across all experimental procedures
- Perform molecular biology assays including qPCR, digital PCR, and protein quantification methods
Key qualifications:
- A highly skilled laboratory scientist with 2+ years of specialized experience in iPSC-derived neuronal differentiation
- Demonstrated expertise with stem cell differentiation protocols
- Experience with single-cell RNA sequencing workflows
- Proficiency in FACS operation, analysis, and troubleshooting
- Proficiency in immunohistochemistry and fluorescence microscopy
- Exceptional attention to detail with a track record of maintaining rigorous experimental standards
- Proven ability to develop, document, and consistently follow detailed experimental protocols
- Has a methodical approach to laboratory work with zero tolerance for procedural deviations
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with electrophysiological characterization of differentiated neurons
- Proficiency in confocal microscopy and automated image analysis for neuronal morphology assessment
- Knowledge of neuronal subtype-specific markers and functional validation approaches
- Experience with organoid development and 3D neuronal culture systems
- Strong subject matter expertise in developmental neurobiology, neuronal specification, or neurodegenerative diseases
- Demonstrated track record of contributing to SOP development and laboratory standardization efforts
