Vision Rehabilitation Specialist, EU

The PRIMA Vision Rehabilitation Specialist is a patient-facing clinical role responsible for delivering structured vision rehabilitation to patients implanted with the PRIMA retinal prosthesis system. This role is critical to helping patients translate artificial vision into meaningful functional outcomes in daily life. The role will work closely with patients, clinical engineering, and commercial field teams to deliver a best-in-class rehabilitation experience for patients and contributing to the successful rollout of PRIMA across Germany.

Role responsibilities:

• Lead vision rehabilitation training for PRIMA-implanted patients in accordance with the Science rehabilitation manual
• Deliver structured in-person rehabilitation sessions, with progression toward remote or virtual sessions as appropriate
• Teach vision skills and functional daily activities tailored to individual patient goals and progress
• Assess patient progress, document outcomes, adjust rehabilitation plans, and assign appropriate home exercises
• Manage accurate data entry and documentation using paper worksheets and/or the NOVA system, as applicable
• Assist with planning, coordination, and setup of rehabilitation sessions, including management of travel and logistics
• Provide hands-on technical support for PRIMA device tuning, optimization, and basic troubleshooting in collaboration with clinical engineering teams
• Build strong rapport with patients, motivating and supporting them to achieve optimal rehabilitation outcomes and a positive overall experience
• Communicate effectively with sales, field, and clinical engineering teams to ensure coordinated patient care

Key qualifications:

• Either Qualified orthoptist, optometrist, optician, ophthalmic nurse, or healthcare professional with relevant ophthalmology experience
• Up to 3 years of experience supporting blind or low-vision patients within clinical, rehabilitation, or care team environments
• Strong patient-facing skills with the ability to build trust, rapport, and motivation
• Fluent German (required) and professional working proficiency in English
• Based in Germany, ideally within or near North Rhine–Westphalia
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly, including visits to clinics and patient homes

Preferred qualifications: 

• Knowledge of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and low-vision therapy principles
• Comfortable working independently in the field while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams
• Technically curious and confident in learning and supporting advanced medical device systems
• Adaptable and resilient, with comfort operating in a dynamic and evolving environment
• Structured and organized approach to documentation and data entry
