We are seeking a Mechanical Assembly Technician to assist with the fabrication, assembly, and modification of various tools and infrastructure to support our neuroscience work. At this early stage, speed is of the utmost importance, so you must be able to pivot and approach challenges from multiple directions simultaneously. You must be able to move quickly without losing important details and understand when to modulate for high-precision tasks. All challenges are highly collaborative.
Role responsibilities:
- Perform manual & machine-assisted fabrication of plastic, metal, and electronic parts
- Assemble various mechanical & low-voltage electrical systems, then perform validation and testing.
- Maintain a safe work environment through the development of new products and processes.
- Provide support and feedback to the other members of the assembly/engineering team.
- Follow assembly SOPs and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and rework instructions.
- Maintain clear, accurate documentation where required.
- Support rapid prototyping and component 3D printing.
- Operate and maintain machine shop and assembly tools.
Key qualifications:
- Experience and confidence in operating various hand and power tools.
- Machine shop tool proficiency and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow assembly SOPs and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and rework instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively and reliably with the team.
- Ability to work independently when required.
Preferred qualifications:
- 3+ years of relevant technician experience.
- GD&T experience.
- Robotics experience.
- Experience working with surgical or biological requirements.
Salary/Pay Range:
Science is required under California law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on the indicated salary band. The base salary range for this full-time position is $40-55 per hour + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers.
